ROBERT
CORREA, PRESIDENT & CEO
MANUFACTURING SUPPORT INDUSTRIES, INC.
Mr. Robert Correa was born in Chile in 1946 and was educated in
Santiago, Chile, where he completed primary and secondary schools.
In 1964 at the age of 18, he immigrated to the United States with
his parents and siblings to reside in the Washington-Maryland suburbs.
Robert is the second oldest of six children.
During his first years in the United States, Mr. Correa obtained
his High School Diploma and completed two years in a Community College
while working as a machinist and toolmaker in a precision metal
manufacturing firm, Metal Tech. Later, he became its Shop Manager.
In December of 1969, Mr. Correa and his father founded Correa Machine
and Tool Co. Inc. The company expanded with state-of-the-art machinery
reaching sales of 5.5 million dollars with 120 employees. It produced
sophisticated components for the military, aerospace, communication
and medical industries.
In 1992 the company was sold to Thomas Enterprises. Robert continued
with Thomas Enterprises managing the manufacturing operations until
1994 when he resigned from the company to become Vice President
of Operations of Diversified Technologies International where he
developed the manufacturing division and later on acquired it.
In 1998, Robert Correa founded Manufacturing Support Industries,
Inc. (MSI), an engineering firm that builds precision-machined metal
and plastics components to blueprint specifications. The company
performs turnkey operations for mechanical assemblies and electromechanical
assemblies that are integral parts of other machinery. Originally
located in Prince George's county, it was relocated to the City
of Salisbury in Maryland's Eastern Shore in 2000.
Today, MSI is a modern, state-of-the-art, end-to-end manufacturing
firm that employs 22 employees. The company's strongest suit is
its use of sophisticated programmable robotics machinery in the
production of precision-machined parts.
MSI is approved as a minority-owned company under SBA 8(a) program
and as a Small Disadvantaged Business entity. MSI serves Fortune
500 companies engaged in the military, aerospace, communication,
and veterinary medicine industries. MSI is also a prime contractor
with the Department of Defense.
Mr. Correa is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Maryland
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
