Wednesday, February 20, 2008 The State Symphony of Mexico, under the baton of music director Enrique Bátiz, premieres in Washington, D.C. at Strathmore. Founded in 1971, this orchestra has become a major force in modern Mexican culture, touring throughout their own country, the United States and Europe. The Symphony’s “beauty of sound, brilliant technique” (Salzburger Nachrichten) will come to life with works by Mexican and Spanish composers including Chavez, Turina and Moncayo.
